YOU WORK IN A COMPANY IN POLAND, then the entire course will be based on business Polish and everything you need (specialized vocabulary, forms of politeness to superiors and colleagues, description of duties, asking questions, company culture, e-mail correspondence, dress code and others, according to your needs I have provided training to company employees on these issues and I know what is important.

YOU WORK IN TOURISM and you need phrases related to the geography, culture and history of the region you are talking about, but you also need to talk to Poles and deal with housekeeping, then I will be happy to help you. I know the necessary vocabulary and I love organising various tours and trip by myself, so I know what you need to remember while doing it.

Teaching methods

I teach holistically

combining 5 parallel skills, such as speaking, reading, writing, reading comprehension and practical/functional knowledge of grammar.

I teach young children through play:

we practise their memory by singing songs, saying rhymes or pronouncing tongue twisters.

I teach Polish language to Polish students,

children of non-native speakers in a Polish school and adults using the communicative method. I focus on functionality. After my lesson, the student is expected to cope with life situations.

My teaching methods

and techniques are primarily customised to the student’s learning style and their learning aim.

I use textbooks and tests, which are available

on the market, but I prefer to create my own materials, notes and exercises. I enjoy taking photos and often use them for my work.

I am familiar with the teaching standards

required in a Polish school (primary school, secondary school, certificate exams). They allow me to reliably help you systematise the requirements of the core curriculum and prepare you for the primary school final exam and for the matura exam.

I teach co-responsibility

for the learning process which strengthens awareness and increases student’s motivation.

I am able to effectively teach compulsory stylistic forms

of writing within 4th and 8th grades in primary school and in secondary school. I also conduct regular style workshops for Home Education Students.

About me, the lucky ‘5’

On my career path, all the twists and turns happen every 5 years....

2003

I graduated from the Faculty of Polish Philology (specialisation in teaching) at the Jagiellonian University and immediately started happily teaching in a primary school. I gathered experience as a young Polish teacher. I was interested in the psychology of creativity and a book titled ‘Creativity training’ by Mr. Edward Edward ‘Creativity training’ by Mr Edward Nęcki was my bible. I followed this line to go beyond and adapt my original techniques in school, to introduce methods to support better communication between teacher, student and parent; to show how to spread student’s activity in lessons….

2008

I broadened my methodological range and gained qualifications as a business trainer and training organiser (postgraduate studies at the Rev. J. Tischner European University in Krakow). David Kolb’s cycle has become the foundation of classes for young people and adults. Fascinated by it, I started to conduct trainings and workshops for teachers, librarians and company employees. Their topics included topics, such as (and still include): communication, electronic correspondence, e-mail consisted with the brand, style workshops for salespeople, intercultural differences, teaching Polish in a heterogeneous group, teaching Polish as a foreign language. I developed my methodological skills among students in Cracow and in Warsaw; in primary school, in a sports secondary school, in high school and in a technical secondary school, as an OKE examiner I also prepared adults for the matura exam at the Cracow Academic Training Centre. In parallel, I found time to work in the training room and in this whirlwind of activity….

2013

…Unexpectedly, I decided to take on another challenge, to go into the unknown. Literally and figuratively. On the horizon appeared the Centre for the Development of Polish Education Abroad at the MEN, which offered jobs for Polish language teachers to Poles and Polish Diaspora in the East. With a sense of fulfilment of a dream I had been hiding for years, to reach Siberia, I accepted the open arms of Verkhina in distant Russia. Then Vilnius became my haven, from which I moored for four years to the shores of Rēzekne (Polish equivalent: Rzezyca) in Latvia. I lived and worked in magical Latgale, the land of the former Polish Inflants, walking in the footsteps of prominent Poles and teaching young people about them. After ‘experiencing Russia’, 5600 km away, nothing was the same anymore. My concept of distance changed forever.

2018

Almaty in Kazakhstan became the last city I chose for myself to work in the East. It was not only the air links between these diverse countries and their cultures that drew me on the map, but most of all the good people I met along the way*, with whom my friendships have been continued to this day. (*I refer to the publication in which I am co-author of Meeting Good People. Memoirs of teachers directed to work among Polonia and Poles, Centre for the Development of Polish Education Abroad, Parts 1 and 2, Warsaw 2018, Warsaw 2022).

In each country, I taught Polish language and culture in schools in the local education system and Polish associations. Almaty ended my stage as a Polish teacher, but my friends from the East asked me to teach them online.

2023

With my friends from the East in mind, as well as everyone who wants to learn Polish, non-native speakers and Poles, I have created a space called ‘Porozmawiajmy po polsku’.
